Completing and submitting your claim form online is the quickest and most efficient way to automatically submit your form to the Administrator. It ensures that all parts of the form are completed accurately, and reduces your chances of missing out vital information, which could delay the processing of your claim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>Class Members who prefer to complete a paper claims form should contact the Claims Administrator (Deloitte) to request that a paper claims form be mailed to them. The Claims Administrator can be contacted at\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:dayscholarsclaims@deloitte.ca\">dayscholarsclaims@deloitte.ca<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a01-877-877-5786 (Monday \u2013 Friday, 12:00 pm \u2013 8:00 pm EST)<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>Class Members who complete paper forms will have to mail or fax their completed claims form directly to the Claims Administrator.\u00a0Only one Claims Form should be submitted. Submitting multiple claims forms may lead to processing delays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>Detailed instructions on how to make a claim will be included within the Claims Form.\u00a0Class Members will only need to answer questions within the simple claim form and will not need to provide additional information about their experiences at Indian Residential Schools (\u201cIRS\u201d). \u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s important that Class Members fill out the forms carefully and provide all the information asked for. Any forms with incomplete information will lead to delays in processing time.\u00a0Valid claims for living Day Scholars will be paid as quickly as possible.\u00a0Claims Forms completed online will be processed more quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>--><br \/><!--<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<h3><b>Estate claims<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In cases where the Survivor Class Member has died since May 30, 2005, their estate administrator, executor, trustee or liquidator, or, if none has been appointed, their highest priority heir can claim the $10,000 Day Scholars Compensation Payment by submitting an Estate Claim Form to the Claims Administrator.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In cases where the estate has an executor, administrator, trustee or liquidator (for example, because one was named in a will, or appointed by a court), that person may make a claim on behalf of the estate. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If there is no estate executor, administrator, trustee or liquidator, the highest priority heir can make a claim.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The priority level of heirs follows the distribution of property in cases where someone covered by the provisions of the Indian Act dies without a will and is as follows (from highest to lowest priority):<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<ol>\n\n\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">surviving spouse;<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">common-law or de facto partner;<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">children;<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">grandchildren;<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">parents;<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">siblings; and<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">children of siblings.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In cases where there is more than one heir of the same priority level, those heirs must choose one heir to make a claim on behalf of all of them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you are making an Estate Claim as the highest priority heir of a deceased Day Scholar who was alive on May 30, 2005, your claim will not be assessed until the end of the claim period to make sure that no claim has been brought by a validly appointed estate executor, administrator, trustee or liquidator, or by an heir of the same or higher priority.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>The Claims Deadline is January 4, 2024.
